Our Story

Outboundlife was founded in 2010 with the objective of Introducing the Father to a fatherless world. Our venture brought us to Southeast Asia in the country of Thailand. We began by providing a resource for young men leaving children’s homes and orphanages to establish their life in the world. In a short time, we were noticed by the Ministry of Justice and their Juvenile probation department. Over the next ten years our program, Mission: 300, would become the required mentorship program for two provinces. During that time we had also been tasked with a leadership program for the youth leaving the Juvenile Detention in that region.

Over this time our general mentorship program, Mission: 300 has expanded its locations beyond Chiang Mai into Ban Zebrae, Lampang, Fang and near the Myanmar border. This also includes working with four elementary schools providing sport leadership programs. In total we have over five hundred participants in our programs. One of the mechanisms for connecting and development principles is the use of sport in our leadership programs, specifically football (soccer). Football is one of Thailand’s top activities for recreation.

Currently, we have six staff that the provide mentorship, sport coaching and life planning solutions for the participants in the program. They provide life skills development, life planning, job references, and a family community to assist with personal challenges. All our staff, but one, are Thai and have been in or assisted our program for over eleven years. Our model has been to raise up staff from the program for future advancement in other regions. The longevity of the staff reflects the core values of our mentoring solution to launch effective leaders and positive influences in their communities. In addition, we have been assisted by the Ministry of Justice, Police and local schools to accomplish our objectives. We have also been recognized as assisting Department of Probation in keeping one of the lowest youth recidivism rates compared to the other provinces in Thailand.

Torch League, our community outreach that was created for those in our Mission: 300 program that want to play football on a team and engage in the community. We currently have 20 teams from all over Chiang Mai and have become the largest amateur league in Northern Thailand. The teams include businesses, police, small communities, and others who just want to form. Around 300 players come each week to participate in the weekly event we host. In addition, we partner with local schools to providing leadership training and life skills development through sport.
